<p>Forklift - Course description</p><p>The successful learner will be able to operate a counter-balanced lift truck - forklift in a safe manner. They will also be able to conduct pre- and post-inspections to ensure the performance of the forklift truck. The learner will be able to handle the loading and storage of freight by using the equipment – and its accessories – in the required manner. They will also be able to access the emergency system and services in the event of an incident or accident.</p><p>Course Targets</p><p>The course is targeted at employees (novice or experienced) with responsibilities for functions within the workplace that relate to operating the following range of counter balance lift trucks or forklifts:</p><ul type="disc"><li>F1: Counterbalanced lift truck (forklift) up to rated capacity of 3,000 kg,</li><li>F2: Counterbalanced lift truck(forklift) up to rated capacity of 7,000 kg</li><li>F3: Counterbalanced lift truck (forklift) up to rated capacity of 15,000 kg.</li><li>F4: Counterbalanced lift truck (forklift) up to rated capacity exceeding 15,000 kg.</li></ul><p>Attachments and special equipment shall include:</p><ol start="1" type="A"><li>Side Shift</li><li>Single pole</li><li>Carton paper roll clamp</li><li>Crane Hook</li><li>Push Pull/Slip sheet equipment</li><li>Load Rotator</li><li>Wire Guidance system</li><li>Load Extender Pantograph</li><li>Rotating Mast (Turret Truck)</li><li>Tilting Bucket</li><li>Tandem Forks</li><li>Container Vanning and Devanning</li><li>Container Handling</li><li>Forks</li><li>Cradle (Safety Cage) The Codes and Attachments correspond with the National Code of Practice.</li></ol><p>Course outline</p><p>At the end of the course, the learner will be able to:</p><ul type="circle"><li>Apply the recognized methods for inspecting and recording the operational fitness of all components of the forklift truck, with reference to safety procedures in the workplace identify</li><li>Classify freight/loads, taking into account documentation, packaging and labelling associated with the specific freight handle</li><li>Load and store freight in accordance with industry standards environmental requirements, and with due consideration to (among other things):<ol start="1" type="I"><li>The commodities and their properties</li><li>storage area</li><li>Placement of load.</li></ol></li><li>Achieve maximum work performance of forklifting equipment and attachments, by applying<ol start="1" type="I"><li>Knowledge of equipment dimensions</li><li>Controls</li><li>Principles of operation and capacities</li><li>Manufacturing specifications and circumstances in the working environment.</li><li>Operate equipment in accordance with established organizational and legislative standards and procedures, as well as manufacturer’s guidelines</li><li>Accessible available emergency support system and services in case of incidents and accident.</li></ol></li></ul><p>Services Offered for This Course</p><p>Forkklift Training - Novice: 3 to 5 days</p><p>Forklift - Recognition Of Prior Learning Certification - 1 day</p><p>Operator's License Renewal - 1 day</p><p> </p>
